By signing the so-called “Manhattan Declaration“, Fathausen wants to ally the Church with anti-Christ Sectarians. Let’s speak frankly… by the standards laid down in most of the 19th century Russian Orthodox manuals on Sectarianism, the so-called “Evangelicals” that JP wants to embrace are our open, irreconcilable, and sworn enemies, and that’s that. By the way, there are REAL Evangelicals… we call ’em “Lutherans” in North America… they’ve nothing in common with the anti-Church slimers who’ve arrogated the term “Evangelical”. In Russia, Orthodox and Evangelical (Lutheran) people always lived in peace… that’s the way it should be, neither group poached on the other’s believers… that’s the way of it amongst decent people.
Today, we see the konvertsy running about, telling us that we should “learn” from the Sectarians. Well… we’ve NOTHING to learn from those who’ve rejected Our Lord Christ and His Church. The “Evangelicals” are anarchistic rightwing extremist nutters… they’re anarchists, for Sectarianism, of necessity, rejects legitimacy. If there were legitimacy, then, one would have to conform oneself to an objectively existing and substantially transcendent people, credo, and/or religion. Since Radical Sectarians reject legitimacy of any sort, they don’t believe in Christ… He came to establish a Church, He said so more than once, and He stated that His Church would endure to the consummation of the ages. They’re rebels of the most vile sort, for they blaspheme the Lord Christ by claiming to speak in His Name, when they possess no more authority than you or I do. In short, Orthodox can only have a salvific monologue with Sectarians… they’ve NOTHING of value to pass on to us.
The lesson for us is clear… we must remain steadfast in our opposition to Sectarianism… it doesn’t matter if they hold views that may coincide with this-or-that position of the Church. I don’t bloody care if they’re “nice”… “nice” and “good” are not synonyms, and the sooner we all learn that, the better off we’ll all be. That is, we shouldn’t engage Sectarians in dialogue… they won’t change, they’re going to continue to proselytise amongst our believers, and they’re open and scornful enemies of Legitimacy and Revelation, which means that they’re devotees of the Anti-Christ. Ironic, isn’t it… the Left Behind crowd’s actually the most fervent servants of the Anti-Christ. Lex orendi, lex credendi… as we pray, so do we believe… if you’ve heard the disjointed and rambling public prayers of Sectarians (“Thank you, Jayzuss! Hallelujah!”), it certainly makes the blood run cold.
Don’t hate… don’t argue… don’t hector. State the Church’s truth, if they refuse to listen, change the subject. If they refuse to refocus on a neutral topic, disengage. Don’t shout… don’t legitimate their arguments by countering them… if they refuse to act like decent human beings faced with disagreement, move away from them… but always pray for them, that’s our DUTY as Christians. After all, God’s gong to save whom He wills…

THIS is what the present-day US Republican Party advocates… a dog-eat-dog, amoral, anti-Christian, and Mammon-worshipping hell on earth. You aren’t forced to vote for it… indeed, you have a moral obligation to vote AGAINST it. You may not be able to vote for positive good… but you’ll be able to cast a ballot against unrefined and pure greed and evil. You can have Christ or you can have Jayzuss… the Dollar or God… justice or “I’ve earned it”… it’s your choice… do take a care and choose well.
Here’s an aside to Orthodox people… His Holiness does NOT support Neoliberal excess (he’s called the Free Market system a fraud)… Paffhausen, Potapov, Kishkovsky, Rod Dreher, Freddie M-G, and all too many konvertsy do support such rightwing fantasies… you can follow His Holiness and Christ… or, you can follow those who’ve confused Christ and their material well-being. Shall you worship God or Mammon… the age-old question… how shall YOU answer it? For no man can serve two masters… your eternal destiny DOES depend on how you reply… take your time.
