On 15 May, in Red Square in Moscow, several thousand kids from all over Russia joined the ranks of the Pioneers. At a reception, the Young Pioneers received their red neckerchiefs from KPRF leaders, RF Gosduma deputies, and members of the Moscow City Duma.

“Lenin‘s legacy lives, more than ever”, according to KPRF General Secretary Gennady Zyuganov. He tied the red neckerchiefs of several Pioneers personally.

The new Pioneers swore an oath to love their country without measure, to observe the Pioneer’s Code faithfully, and to excel at school, in work, and at sport.

At the end of the ceremony, the Pioneers laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and they visited the Lenin Mausoleum.

On 19 May, the Young Pioneers will celebrate their 89th anniversary; the event on Red Square was in commemoration of that date.
