21 November 2012. From the Russian Web. Penguin “Grand Central” in Antarctica

______________________________

A Russian ecotourist took this snap in Antarctica. Doesn’t it look like the penguin equivalent of Grand Central Terminal at rush hour? However, like Grand Central, it only LOOKS confused. Trust me, the penguins don’t lose track of their mates and young (although how they do it is beyond me).

21 November 2012. Don’t Mess With the Best… They’re Not Called “the Black Death” for Naught

______________________________

The above are the Russian Naval Infantry, in their traditional black uniforms… that led to their traditional nickname, “the Black Death”. They’re often erroneously called “Russian Marines” in Anglophone publications. Actually, they’re more of an élite unit than the Marines are, and they’d wipe up the floor with the US Marines without breaking a sweat. You see, most Americans have never heard of such battles as Novorossisk (“the Little Land”) in the VOV or Sevastopol in the Crimean War… if they did, they wouldn’t be so belligerent towards Russians. Russians mean it when they say, “All those who march on Russia will be put to death”… they’re not jesting or joking. Ask the Germans

21 November 2012. Our Great Russian Motherland… Tolbachik Volcano in Kamchatka (Photo by Vadim Gippenreiter)

______________________________

This looks like the photog was rather TOO close to the action. This was taken in 1975 by the famous Soviet era photographer Vadim Gippenreiter (1917- ). It’s Tolbachik Volcano on the Kamchatka peninsuala in Siberia.
