14 October 2013. Red October Still Lives… Pioneer Ceremony on Red Square

A boy yawns as he and other children attend a ceremonial initiation into the Union of Pioneer Organisations-Federation of Children’s Organisations (SPO-FDO), the successor to the V I Lenin all-Union Pioneer Organisation, an organisation created in the USSR for children 10-14 years old. The event took place on Red Square in Moscow on 19 May 2013, when the Pioneers celebrated their anniversary. Some 3,000 pioneers took part in the ceremony. As you can see, being “Red” isn’t dead. The Western news media was nowhere in evidence…
